That night, El was in his dreams again. He was lying on his bed at his
home in Marinus when she came to him, wearing a simple white dress that
floated around her body. When he reached out for her, she came to him freely.
But as soon as he took her hand, her figure dissolved and melted away.
He woke abruptly, his skin glistening with sweat, and looked over at
the others to see them sleeping soundly. His gaze settled on El, who lay on
her back, with her hand resting protectively over her arrow wound, deep in
the sleep of the exhausted. The moonlight filtering in through the window
danced on her unbound hair like marionettes. He had been so close to telling
her what he felt for her that night. But she had changed the topic—from what
united them to what divided them. Rather than dousing his ardor, it only
strengthened his attraction to her. He had never met anyone with a passion
that matched his. Or anyone who was so convinced at the inferiority of man.

About the Author
Jasmine (J.J. Fischer) is living proof that it is possible to be addicted to tea and coffee simultaneously. Both made it possible for her to complete her Bachelor degree in English Literature and Creative Writing in 2012.
Jasmine is married to David, and together they are the proud owner-parents of five warring pet chickens who tolerate each others’ existence—most days. When tempted away from the keyboard, she enjoys reading, thinking about lasagna almost as often as Garfield the cat, and working towards her black belt in karate. She vows to one day write the perfect fight scene.
