My love of books started with Dr. Seuss, talk about having an entertaining way with words. As a child, I would solve mysteries with Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys and learn about growning up with Judy Blume’s ‘Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret’.

It was in fourth grade that I had my first real experience with writing. I started writing mysteries and sharing them with my friends, who ended up passing my handwritten story around the lunch table. Oh, how I wish I still had those stories.

I first discovered romance in fifth grade in the form of young adult romances and the poems that were inside one of the teen magazines. I was determined to become a poet and begged my parents for a typewriter (yes, a typewriter, no comments necessary. LOL.) I would type up the most simplistic poems, determined to get a book published.

Then as a teenager I was introduced to my first Harlequin and I immediately fell in love. I devoured books including Kathleen E. Woodiwiss and Johanna Lindsey, followed by Danielle Steele and boxes of Harlequins. I was hooked on being swept away into another life. I spent most of my junior and high school nights lost between the covers of romance novel.

At age nineteen I started to pen my first romance. I think I made every mistake known to man and few that have yet to be documented. LOL. Nope, don’t have those stories either. Once I figured out how terrible they were, I didn’t waste any time disposing of them.

Since then, I've joined Romance Writers of America, RWA PRO, WritingGIAMx2, and From The Heart Romance Writers, where I am currently the FTH Critique Loop Program Chair. The choice to join these groups has made all of the difference in my writing. I’ve acquired some very dear friends and learned a lot about writing techniques, as well as, my own strengths and weaknesses.
